Today I helped with the finishing touches on the The Art of Science: Works by the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators show that is currently at the Camas Gallery space at SAA. I painted some pedestals and posted lettering for the show title.
Today I went and posted fliers for the show Through July 28 > The Art of Science: Works by the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators at the local Community College Chemeketa. It was an easy way to spread word of an upcoming show at SAA. I've taken Chemeketa art classes as I am duel enrolled at PSU and Chemeketa.

Today I spent my intern-shift painting another layer over the blue painted dividers walls. Some of the edges were missed and so I spread another layer to tighten up the appearance a bit. I also ran into one of my elementary school teachers who is a gallery guide there her name is Sally Templeman. It was nice to catch up with her and talk about some fond memories from elementary school.

Today I helped with finishing touches on a new show in the AN Bush Gallery. The new show is called Radius 25: Face to Face which is a juried show featuring artists from a 25 mile radius around Salem. I learned some lighting techniques for the show and made sure the peices were level.

Today Catherine helped me create a resume for a job I applied for at PSU. I learned a ton from Catherine about the format and tone. She also helped me with the cover letter and additional questions pertaining to the job. we worked on it for around three hours!

March 20th, 2012

I began working on documentation of the youth artist show that has been in the A.N Bush Gallery for the past couple of months. I used a ladder to capture images of the majority of the young artist's works. Close up photos as well as general display photos were included in the documentation process. I also helped determine what artists SAA represents had full bio's on record as well as images and artist statements (as seen in photo).

March 13th, 2012

For my internship shift today I worked on documentation of the Construct show that was recently dismantled. I took photographs of the majority of the work included in the show and began to edit them using Photoshop.

Today I helped at the SAA by organizing storage spaces. I also was there while another intern Marcus was installing the intern show. In the photo I am carrying a box of bubble wrap and standing infront of my painting Metacognition. I also helped locate certain artist's pieces for inventory.

Here I am on 3-14-12 touching up pedestals for the youth art show with some white paint. As I was working students from The School for the Deaf came in and it was a pleasure to meet them and see them very excited to view their artwork within a gallery setting.

On 3-7-12 I helped hang art for the current show at SAA of youth artists from different schools within and around Salem. The show displays a large amount of all kinds of art from drawing to book art.

On the weekend of March 3-4 I participated with a mosaic class. It was nice to help out as well as make a piece myself. I helped the instructor Lynn Takata with all of her supplies including tiles as well as saws and other tool. She was a great instructor and a really nice woman.

02-22-12 through the 25th Preparation for the ClayBall

The first photo is of my internship shift on the 22nd. I made decorations for the Clay Ball, the clay ball is an annual fundraiser for SAA and involves auctions and photo booths and dinner! It was a really pleasant experience with around 600 people I believe. It was really interesting to see the process of pulling something of this magnitude off. This year's theme was 60's and the above photo is of my girlfriend Amber and I at the photo booth!

For February the 3rd as well as the 9th I worked on compiling a catalog documenting the show I helped install by artist Jessie Reid. Here I am touching up some photographs that I took of the show. I used to put together a simple documentation catalog.

Today I documented the shows on display at the gallery with photographs. I learned the importance of documentation of the shows for historical record keeping for the gallery. I also learned how to order vinyl lettering for titling of the shows.

Today at the gallery I rearranged some items in the storage room and cleaned up a bit. After an hour or so of that I was able to handle prints by Salvador Dali and use the 3d mirror glasses that you can see in the photo. I also helped set up for a meeting involving planning out 2013's schedule for the gallery. I was able to participate in the meeting as I am having a show in March and April of 2013 in the Focus gallery.

URL for the Ex Voto show

Today I went to the Gallery and helped artist Jessie Reid install his solo show. The Show is titled Ex Voto. I helped install the cast legs on his wood sculptures. I also went to the event Art Fusion that is a bi-annual event that includes music performances and as well as viewings of new shows.
